TERAVARNA Foundation Partners with Freeland Through Art with Impact

Art may change perspectives, initiate discussions, and bring light to topics that go way beyond the confines of the canvases. With the Art with Impact program, TERAVARNA Foundation is bringing the power of creativity together with organizations that try to find solutions for pressing environmental and social problems. This is best demonstrated by the most recent cooperation between TERAVARNA Foundation and Freeland.
Introducing Freeland: Protecting People and Wildlife
Freeland is a non-profit international organization whose aim is to stop the trade of wildlife and humans and secure vulnerable communities and habitats. With activities in Asia, Africa, and America, the organization joins forces of law enforcement officials, experts, government institutions, and local communities to interfere with trafficking chains and prevent crime.

In addition to the illegal trade of animals, the crime networks may endanger people, biodiversity, and the security of communities. Freeland is engaged in solving these connected problems by providing training, intelligence support, cross-border collaboration, raising public awareness and implementing initiatives in the community. It helps to build up the capacities of those who are on the frontline as well as to secure people and nature from criminals.
Taking care of the systems which provide the opportunity for people to be exploited, Freeland strives for creating a world without wildlife trafficking and slavery.

Art with Impact: Connecting Creativity with Action
Art with Impact by TERAVARNA Foundation is an attempt to connect involvement in certain TERAVARNA art competitions with charity in favor of nonprofit organizations. In this regard, some part of the entry fee received from certain competitions will be donated to organizations dealing with topics like environment preservation, humanitarian aid, education, and community building.
This program is based on the idea that art has not only to be aesthetic but also can play an important role in people's lives. Art works can encourage people to observe the world around them and reconsider their usual points of view on some things that can appear to be too remote from them.
In cooperation with Freeland, TERAVARNA Foundation brings this philosophy into dialogue with the topical issues of wildlife trafficking and human exploitation.
Beyond the Canvas
Abstract art, especially, allows its viewers to interpret the forms, question their assumptions, and think about various ideas from other angles. However, there are certain problems that require more than interpretation and discussion. Illegal trade of wildlife, human exploitation, and degradation of the ecosystems affect people, animals, and nature.
Collaboration of the TERAVARNA Foundation with Freeland links artistic activity with these practical issues. The program named Art with Impact lets artists take part in chosen art competitions to help in solving important problems through cooperation.
This collaboration is just another step in TERAVARNA Foundation's efforts to link the arts with something more than the art itself. Through Art with Impact, artists and non-profit organizations will become able to discuss relevant problems and take active part in solving them together.
Art starts with one person, but this is not the only limit of its impact on the reality. This collaboration of TERAVARNA Foundation with Freeland is another example of this process.
