TERAVARNA Foundation Partners with Wildlife Vets International Through Art with Impact

Art has the ability to cross borders, start conversations, and bring people together around ideas that matter. Through its Art with Impact initiative, TERAVARNA Foundation is working to extend that impact beyond the art world by supporting organizations addressing important environmental and social challenges.

We are pleased to announce our partnership with Wildlife Vets International (WVI), a British charity that has provided specialist veterinary support to international wildlife and conservation projects since 2004. WVI works with conservation organizations, governments, local vets, and field teams to bring veterinary expertise to the frontline of wildlife conservation.

Bringing Veterinary Expertise Into Conservation

Wildlife conservation is often associated with protecting habitats, preventing poaching, or restoring populations. But animal health is another essential part of the equation.

WVI focuses on the veterinary side of conservation, helping endangered and threatened species through specialist medical knowledge, disease research, training, rehabilitation, and practical support. Rather than running its own conservation projects, WVI works alongside organizations already working with wildlife, helping them access the veterinary expertise they need.

Its work includes training local vets and biologists in wildlife medicine, supporting disease surveillance, improving clinical and rehabilitation practices, and helping conservation teams safely handle and treat animals. WVI also assists with collecting and analyzing samples to identify potential disease threats and develops practical protocols and resources that local teams can continue using after specialist veterinary visits.

This approach is designed to build long-term local capacity rather than provide only short-term intervention. WVI's veterinary partners provide both hands-on training and ongoing advice, helping local professionals develop the knowledge and skills needed to respond to wildlife health challenges themselves.

Supporting Species Around the World

WVI's work has involved a wide range of endangered and vulnerable species, including tigers, painted wolves, sea turtles, and other wildlife.

Its projects include disease surveillance for threatened carnivores, rehabilitation of endangered animals, wildlife health work involving island species, and veterinary support for conservation and reintroduction programmes. WVI also works to understand and manage disease threats that can become especially serious when wildlife populations are small or fragmented.

The organization's work with tigers, for example, includes training local wildlife vets to treat sick or injured animals, safely rehabilitate them, investigate disease threats, and respond to situations involving human-wildlife conflict. WVI has supported tiger conservation work in countries including Nepal, China, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Russia.

Its work demonstrates an important aspect of conservation: protecting a species is not only about preserving where an animal lives. It can also mean understanding its health, preventing disease, improving veterinary capacity, and ensuring conservation teams have the expertise required to care for individual animals and populations.

Art With Impact

This partnership is part of TERAVARNA Foundation's Art with Impact initiative, which connects participation in selected TERAVARNA art competitions with support for nonprofit organizations.

Through the initiative, 5% of entry fees from selected TERAVARNA art competitions are donated to nonprofit organizations working across areas such as environmental conservation, education, cultural preservation, humanitarian relief, and community development.

As part of our support for Wildlife Vets International, TERAVARNA Foundation has donated $200 toward WVI's conservation work.

The initiative reflects a simple idea: participation in the arts can have an impact beyond the artwork itself. When artists enter a competition, their contribution can become part of a wider effort to support organizations working on challenges that affect wildlife, communities, and the environment.

A Connection Beyond the Gallery

TERAVARNA Foundation believes that creativity can play a role in creating meaningful connections. Art does not have to exist separately from the world around us. It can draw attention to important issues, encourage curiosity, and create opportunities for collective action.

Our partnership with WVI brings together two very different fields: the creative world and wildlife conservation. WVI brings specialist veterinary knowledge to conservation teams working to protect threatened species, while Art with Impact creates a pathway through which participation in art can contribute to organizations doing this work.
